It isn’t really that shocking. Being just radioactive enough to register with a geiger counter would be a very low amount of radiation, almost certainly less than what an x-ray machine gives out, and possibly less than what mobile phones give out. Radiation *is* dangerous, but only when it’s above certain levels. Though I guess it’d be “shocking” to a general audience who think “radiation is bad” applies no matter what, rather than knowing the slightly more complex truth about safe levels of it.
